WhatsApp tests direct Instagram and Facebook content sharing
WhatsApp is testing a new feature within its media picker that allows users to share content directly from Instagram and Facebook. By linking accounts through the Meta Accounts Center, users can select their own posts, stories, and reels to send in chats or publish as WhatsApp statuses without needing to download the media to their device first.
This integration is one-way, meaning Facebook and Instagram do not gain access to local WhatsApp files, preserving the end-to-end encryption of regular chats.
Additionally, Meta is expanding the integration of AI agents and third-party bots to the iOS beta. Users may soon be able to integrate up to five third-party bots using an API key. However, these bot conversations are not end-to-end encrypted, as message processing is routed through Meta servers to external developers.
