WhatsApp tests Instagram Reels shortcut for Android users

WhatsApp is testing a new feature in its Android beta version (2.26.42.9) that allows users to share Instagram Reels directly from the chat attachment menu. This shortcut aims to streamline the process of sending short-form videos without requiring users to navigate through the media picker or switch between applications.

To use this feature, users must link their WhatsApp account to Meta’s Accounts Center. Once connected, a dedicated button in the attachment menu provides access to three specific categories of Instagram content: ‘Recents’, ‘Saved’, and ‘Liked’. This allows users to quickly find videos they have recently watched, bookmarked, or interacted with on Instagram.

While the feature is currently being rolled out to select beta testers via the Google Play Store, Meta has not yet announced an official release date for the general public.
