WhatsApp tests single‑view messages and home‑screen voice note widget

WhatsApp is piloting a "single‑view" messaging feature that allows a text message to be opened only once. In beta versions for iOS and Android, the sender can tap and hold the send button to choose “Send as single view,” after which the recipient cannot copy, forward, screenshot, or re‑open the message. The tool works in both individual and group chats and is still under internal testing with no public release date announced.

In a separate Android beta build, WhatsApp has added a home‑screen widget that lets users record and send voice notes without opening the app. The widget, sized initially at 3×1, displays a microphone button labeled “Tap to record.” After recording, users can select contacts to receive the note. The feature is detected in beta version 2.26.24.2 and also has no confirmed launch timeline.
