WhatsApp to End Support for Older iPhone and Android Models on Aug 1 2026

Meta’s WhatsApp will stop supporting a range of older smartphones beginning 1 August 2026. The service will remain compatible only with devices running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or later and iPhones with iOS 15.1 or newer. Phones that fall below these thresholds—including iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5 series, iPhone 4s, Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy Ace 4, LG Optimus L3, Sony Xperia M, Huawei Ascend Mate, HTC Desire 500 and similar Android models—will first lose security and feature updates and eventually become unable to open or use WhatsApp. Users are advised to back up chats and migrate to a supported device before the cutoff to avoid loss of access.
