WhatsApp updates iPhone interface with new conversation menu

WhatsApp has begun rolling out a new conversation interface for iPhone users. The update replaces the contact name in the top bar with an interactive button that opens a menu containing various shortcuts.

This new button displays the contact's profile photo, name, and status, such as “online” or “last seen”. The update also addresses legibility issues related to the Liquid Glass design, ensuring that contact names remain readable regardless of the chosen chat wallpaper.

In individual chats, the translucent dropdown menu provides access to message searching, contact information, media, links, documents, theme settings, and notification controls. Group chats include these same options along with a shortcut to add participants. The rollout is gradual and currently identified in version 26.39.75 for iOS, though availability depends on whether users have already received the Liquid Glass interface.
