Wheat prices fall amid hopes for Black Sea export recovery

Wheat and corn prices are facing downward pressure despite ongoing disruptions in the Black Sea region and disappointing European harvests. Traders are increasingly looking toward a potential recovery in export flows, which has led to a decline in wheat prices.

On the Matif futures market in Paris, the December contract fell for the fourth consecutive trading day, reaching levels not seen since mid-August. Similarly, wheat prices in Chicago saw a significant decline.

Market analysts suggest that while grain export problems in the Black Sea persist, traders are pricing in the possibility of a diplomatic solution that could restore export capacity. Experts note that up to 80% of Russian export capacity could become available relatively quickly if attacks on ports cease. Consequently, Russia has begun shifting some grain exports to Baltic Sea ports.
