Wheatbelt modular housing project to deliver 54 social homes

A $27 million funding initiative will support the construction of 54 modular social homes for seniors across 17 sites in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. The project is funded by a $16.96 million contribution from the State Government and $10.24 million through the Federal Government’s Housing Australia Future Fund.

Central East Accommodation and Care Alliance Inc. (CEACA) will oversee the delivery of the two-bedroom homes. The units will be manufactured by Modular WA at its Wangara facility and built to Silver Liveable Housing Australia standards to ensure accessibility for older residents.

Construction is scheduled to begin this month, with installation expected to commence later this year or in 2026. The initiative aims to utilize alternative construction methods to increase housing supply more quickly and cost-effectively while supporting local manufacturing and job creation.
