Wheel to Live wins Golden Dionysus at Drama Film Festival

The film ‘Wheel to Live’, directed by Vicky Anastasiadou, has won the Golden Dionysus for Best Film at the 49th Drama International Short Film Festival. Based on a true story, the film follows a man named Nikos who, following an accident, must redefine his relationship with his body and his life at a rehabilitation center.

The jury praised the film for its ‘effortlessly moving’ approach to disability, noting its tenderness, honesty, and humor. In addition to the award and a 10,000 euro prize, the film has secured its place on the festival’s list for Oscar consideration in the Best Live Action Short Film category. The winner will also participate in the Agora Short Film Lab at the Thessaloniki Film Festival.

The closing ceremony marked the end of the 49th edition of the festival. Giorgos Papadopoulos, the President of the Festival and Mayor of Drama, emphasized the deep connection between the event and the city, stating that the festival has established a unique position on the international cinematic map.
