Wheelchair American football exhibition held in Lagos

An exhibition of wheelchair American football was held at the National Institute for Sports in Lagos, Nigeria, aimed at promoting inclusion and opportunities for athletes with disabilities. The event was organized by American Football Elite Development (AFEDEV) and received support from the US Consulate General Lagos, which provided equipment, meals, and media coverage.

Founder Ojaideh described the exhibition as a milestone for sports development in Nigeria and Africa, noting the goal of creating structured pathways for elite talent from the grassroots level. The initiative also includes future plans to establish Tackle Football and Flag Football leagues.

Three exhibition games were played involving teams such as Iron Invicta, Liberty Pioneer, Lagos Dynamos, and Atlantic Chargers. Liberty Pioneer emerged as the standout team, winning both of its matches. The event attracted various stakeholders, including representatives from the German Embassy, the University of Lagos, and sports officials from multiple states looking to replicate the model.
