WhidbeyHealth Cuts $644,000 Costs by Ending HealthTech Management Contract

WhidbeyHealth, the public hospital district on Washington's Whidbey Island, reached a settlement to end its management agreement with HealthTech early. The district paid a prorated $41,242 for July services and avoided roughly $644,000 in remaining contractual costs that would have been due through March 2027.

Under the agreement, Hospital CEO Nathan Staggs and Chief Financial Officer Paul Rogers left HealthTech and are now employed directly by WhidbeyHealth. Board president Marion Jouas said the transition provides continuity of leadership and will not affect patient care, services, or day‑to‑day operations. The settlement also waived a non‑compete clause that had previously barred Staggs from working for the hospital for a year after leaving HealthTech.
