Whirlpool expands Troca Certa program to include freezers
Whirlpool, the parent company of Brastemp and Consul, has expanded its ‘Troca Certa’ program to include freezers as eligible items for trade-in. This initiative allows consumers to receive discounts of up to 10% on the purchase of new appliances when trading in old ones.
The program aims to facilitate reverse logistics and sustainable consumption by simplifying the disposal of large appliances. This year alone, the tool has generated over 20,000 collection requests. Since 2023, Whirlpool’s reverse logistics program has correctly disposed of more than 111,000 tons of waste, which is equivalent to recycling 2.5 million products.
Consumers can schedule free collection for large appliances across Brazil through the Brastemp or Consul websites. Smaller products can be dropped off at more than 17,000 accredited collection points. Douglas Reis, Whirlpool’s director for Latin America, stated that the program is designed to eliminate barriers to proper disposal, making environmental care simpler for the consumer.
