Whirlpool forecasts annual loss following weak appliance sales

Whirlpool has issued a revised outlook forecasting a full-year adjusted loss for 2026, reversing previous profit projections. The company reported third-quarter net sales of $3.677 billion, an 8.8% decline from the previous year, missing analyst estimates.

In North America, major appliance revenue fell 8.3% to $2.5 billion, while operating profit in that segment dropped 44.7%. Although Latin American major appliance revenue grew by 6.9%, operating profit in the region fell 61.3%.

The manufacturer reported a GAAP loss of $3.80 per diluted share for the third quarter. For the full year 2026, Whirlpool now expects net sales of approximately $14.5 billion and an ongoing loss of $1.30 per share, a significant shift from its August projection of ongoing earnings between $2.50 and $3.00 per share.
