Whistleblower Simon Andriesz found dead in Thailand
British former banker Simon Andriesz was found dead in Thailand on September 23 at the age of 57. His family has attributed the death to suicide, with reports indicating he was found by asphyxiation near Bangkok.
Andriesz, a former executive at BGC Partners, had been acting as a whistleblower, providing documentation to the FBI and the U.S. Congress regarding business ties between Jeffrey Epstein and Howard Lutnick, the current U.S. Secretary of Commerce under Donald Trump. The documents included 2018 emails detailing commercial conversations between Lutnick and Epstein concerning Adfin Solutions, a technology company in which both held financial interests.
His death has sparked controversy in the United Kingdom, leading members of Parliament to call for an independent investigation. Critics have specifically questioned the actions of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), which Andriesz had accused of failing to protect him from retaliation and harassment following his disclosures regarding alleged financial irregularities.
