Whistler hosts first Downhill World Cup event
Whistler is hosting a Downhill World Cup event for the first time in its history. The competition takes place on the ‘1199’ track located in the Creekside area, a name chosen to honor Canadian rider Stevie Smith, who earned 1,199 points to win the overall World Cup title in 2013.
The 2.4 km course features approximately 490 meters of vertical drop and consists of technical terrain including steep sections, roots, rocks, and large jumps. The event features prominent riders such as Jackson Goldstone, Finn Iles, and Gracey Hemstreet competing on home soil.
In the men's standings, Jordan Williams holds a 141-point lead over Asa Vermette heading into the final stages of the season.
