White Cane Day observed with support initiatives in Bahrain and Egypt

Various organizations and government entities in Bahrain and Egypt held events to observe White Cane Day, aimed at supporting individuals with visual impairments and promoting social inclusion.

In Bahrain, the Friendship Association for the Blind organized the annual “Walk with the Blind” march. The event was attended by Brigadier Ammar Al-Sayed, Deputy Governor of the Capital, and Stephanie Leane Hallit, the U.S. Ambassador to Bahrain. Hussein Al-Hulaibi, president of the association, emphasized that the white cane is an essential tool for independent and safe navigation.

In Egypt, the Ministry of Interior organized activities to support the visually impaired. Initiatives included distributing white canes to schools and care associations, as well as providing free services for obtaining official documents such as birth certificates, personal IDs, and passports. The Ministry also produced a guide to police services in Braille to improve accessibility to government resources.
