White House Crypto Adviser Patrick Witt Defers Military Training to Stay on CLARITY Act Push

Patrick Witt, the White House’s chief crypto adviser and lead negotiator on the CLARITY Act, announced that his scheduled mandatory training with the Georgia Army National Guard has been deferred. By postponing the Judge Advocate General training he can remain at the White House to continue shaping the bill, which seeks to establish the first comprehensive U.S. regulatory framework for the cryptocurrency market.

The CLARITY Act faces a tight Senate deadline before the August 8 recess, making Witt’s continued involvement critical. This is the second deferment; he previously postponed training in April for the same reason. At the same time, Deputy Director Harry Jung has indicated he will leave the President’s Council of Advisors for Digital Assets within weeks, underscoring the transition in the administration’s crypto policy team.
