White House launches Arcade. Gov games to promote Trump policies

The White House has launched ‘Arcade. Gov’, a collection of five retro-style browser games designed to promote President Donald Trump’s ‘America First’ agenda. The games use pixel art and mechanics inspired by classics like Tetris, Snake, and Flappy Bird to illustrate various administration policies.

Key titles include ‘Build the Wall’, which uses Tetris-style mechanics to defend the border against a ‘horde’, and ‘Rio Run’, a Snake-inspired game where players act as border enforcement to capture and deport migrants. Other games focus on legislative goals and economic initiatives, such as ‘Flappy Bill’ and ‘Trump Savings Tycoon’.

The initiative has drawn significant criticism. Human rights organizations have condemned the gamification of deportations and arrests, arguing it trivializes human lives. Politically, Democratic representatives have criticized the focus on gaming over addressing economic issues. Additionally, The Tetris Company has expressed concern regarding intellectual property rights, stating they did not authorize the use of the Tetris brand or protected content for these games.
