White House security breach as man drives onto sidewalk

A man was arrested on Saturday afternoon after driving his vehicle onto a sidewalk near the White House at the intersection of 16th and H Streets Northwest. The incident occurred near Lafayette Square, prompting a significant response from the United States Secret Service, the Metropolitan Police Department, and military personnel.

The unidentified driver reportedly demanded to speak directly with President Donald Trump. At the time of the incident, the President was not at the White House but was reportedly at Camp David in Maryland.

Authorities temporarily closed nearby roads as a precaution. A Secret Service spokesperson stated that the vehicle was swept for dangerous materials with ‘negative results.’ Following his arrest, the man was taken to a nearby hospital for a ‘mental health evaluation.’
