Vice President JD Vance conducted the first White House press briefing in over 40 days, following the departure of press secretary Karoline Leavitt. The hiatus lasted since July 23, leaving the position of press secretary vacant as the Trump administration evaluates potential successors.

During the briefing, Vance addressed several key issues, including the conflict with Iran. He noted that tensions and strikes involving the Islamic Republic, specifically regarding commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, have contributed to high gas prices. He also discussed a recent oil agreement with Venezuela, describing it as a “win-win” for Venezuelans, American oil companies, and taxpayers.

Vance also emphasized the administration's commitment to “democratizing information” by providing access to non-legacy media outlets, such as Breitbart News. He argued that providing a platform to diverse voices is essential to upholding First Amendment rights and ensuring Americans feel properly represented.
