White Rock community event raises $5,500 for Mito Canada

The “Light Up For Miller” gathering held in White Rock raised more than $5,500 for Mito Canada on Sept. 20. The community event was organized by Taylor and Chris Collins to honor their son, Miller Collins, who passed away in 2025 at five months old following a diagnosis of mitochondrial disease.

In addition to fundraising for research, the event aimed to educate the public about the rare group of diseases. The gathering featured information booths, awareness bracelets, themed merchandise, and a prize draw. The organizers noted that the turnout provided a significant opportunity to speak with community members who were previously unfamiliar with mitochondrial disease.
