White supremacists rally in Danbury, Connecticut, over police recruitment
A group of approximately twelve white supremacists held a rally outside the Danbury, Connecticut, police headquarters over the weekend. The demonstrators, identified by a banner as ‘Northeast Action’, were filmed wearing masks, holding signs such as ‘Keep New England White’, and performing Nazi salutes while chanting ‘white power’.
The protest was sparked by a recent Danbury City Council decision to allow certain noncitizens, including permanent legal residents and DACA recipients, to join the local police force. According to screenshots from the group’s Telegram channel, the protesters targeted the city due to its large Hispanic population and the new recruitment policy.
Danbury Mayor Roberto Alves confirmed the authenticity of the footage and condemned the hateful rhetoric used by the group.
