White-tailed eagle sighted in Sivas, Turkey

Nature photographer Mustafa Aslan has documented a white-tailed eagle, the largest eagle species in Europe, in Sivas, Turkey. The sighting included a mother eagle with two chicks in her nest.

The white-tailed eagle is characterized by a wingspan of up to 2.40 meters and a weight of approximately 7 kilograms. Aslan noted that it is larger than the golden eagle. He also clarified that while the species is often confused with the bald eagle, the latter is not found in Turkey.

Aslan has been tracking the birds for approximately four years, noting that they frequently return to the same nest to breed. He highlighted the rarity of seeing two chicks successfully raised in a single nest, as these large raptors typically produce only one offspring at a time.
