White tiger cub transferred to rescue center in Mexico City

A five-month-old white Bengal tiger cub has been transferred to a specialized rescue center in Mexico City after being discovered inside a vehicle near the Central de Abasto. The cub is currently undergoing quarantine and medical evaluation at the Fundación Invictus Center for Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Relocation of Large Carnivores.

The Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa) coordinated the transfer to the facility, which is authorized by Semarnat. Authorities noted that while the cub appeared to be in good condition, no identification markings were found during a body scan, and no legal documentation was provided to prove ownership. Because Bengal tigers are listed under CITES Appendix I due to their endangered status, the case is under investigation to determine the animal's origin and identify those responsible for its illegal possession.
