White vinegar serves as an effective natural household cleaner

White vinegar is increasingly used as an effective, low-cost, and eco-friendly alternative to chemical cleaners for various household tasks. Due to its acetic acid content, typically between 4% and 7%, it possesses antimicrobial properties and a low pH that helps neutralize odors and break down mineral deposits.

For floor maintenance, a recommended mixture is half a cup of white vinegar per bucket of water. However, users should avoid using it on marble, granite, terrazzo, or other calcareous surfaces, as the acidity can corrode the polish. It is also critical never to mix vinegar with bleach or chlorine-based cleaners, as this creates toxic gases.

In window cleaning, vinegar serves as an effective tool against dust, humidity, and urban pollution. Scientific research, including studies from the University of Birmingham, suggests that diluted acetic acid can inhibit the growth of certain pathogens, supporting its use as a natural disinfectant.
