WhiteBIT receives Austrian MiCA license ahead of EU deadline

WhiteBIT, a crypto exchange owned by W Group, obtained authorization under the EU Markets in Crypto‑Assets Regulation (MiCA) from Austria’s Financial Market Authority. The Austrian licence enables the platform to offer regulated crypto‑asset services across the European Economic Area through a single passport, removing the need for separate national licences. The approval arrives less than two weeks before the MiCA transition period ends on 1 July, after which firms operating only under legacy registrations must secure a MiCA licence or stop serving EU clients.

Austria was one of the first EU member states to complete the transition, having licensed nine providers and not extending grandfathering provisions beyond 31 December 2025. WhiteBIT, founded in 2018, serves more than 35 million customers worldwide and counts partnerships with Visa, FC Barcelona, Juventus and Ukraine’s national football team among its collaborators.
