Whitney Houston memorabilia auction set for August 11

Whitney Houston’s estate, together with Julien’s Auctions, will hold an auction on August 11 to sell a collection of the singer’s iconic wardrobe pieces, awards and personal items. The lot list includes the mini dress she wore at the 1988 American Music Awards, a red Versace leather outfit from her 1999 VH1 Divas performance, a Burberry coat from the Nothing But Love World Tour, a Dolce & Gabbana gown from the My Love Is Your Love tour, an MCM luggage set, a Bob Mackie‑embellished jacket, a Richard Avedon portrait and her nine‑times Platinum RIAA award for “I Wanna Dance with Somebody.”

All proceeds – 100 % – will benefit the Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation, which funds scholarships and community programs. The items will be previewed at the Foundation’s Legacy of Love Gala on August 8, the day that would have been Houston’s 63rd birthday. Pat Houston, president of the foundation and executor of the estate, and Martin Nolan of Julien’s Auctions said the sale celebrates Houston’s artistic legacy while supporting future generations.
