WHO says hantavirus risk remains low as three cruise ship deaths reported

The World Health Organization (WHO) reaffirmed that hantavirus continues to pose a low risk to public health worldwide. In its statement the agency said, “the global risk remains low” based on the latest available information.

Three passengers aboard the cruise ship Hondius have died from the virus, and other passengers have been placed in isolation at multiple locations around the world. Despite these cases, WHO maintains that the overall epidemiological threat remains minimal.
