Whoop and Oura release jewelry-inspired wearable fitness trackers

Wearable technology companies are increasingly focusing on aesthetic design to encourage continuous use. Whoop has launched the Meridian, a device that utilizes the existing Whoop 5.0 sensor technology but packages it in a jewelry-like design. Featuring a Milanese-style metal mesh band and metallic finishes, the Meridian is intended to blend into social settings where traditional fabric fitness bands might be less desirable. It is available in Gold, Rose Gold, Alloy, and Black, with pricing set at $149 in the US, £119 in the UK, and AU$219 in Australia.

Similarly, the Oura Ring 5 offers a wellness-tracking solution designed to resemble traditional jewelry. The fifth-generation ring is 40 percent thinner than its predecessor, allowing it to be worn solo or stacked with other rings. Like previous models, it tracks sleep, activity, stress levels, and vital signs through sensors embedded in the ring, while offering an upgraded battery life and a more compact body.
