Whoopi Goldberg appears slimmer at New York red‑carpet event with daughter

Oscar‑winning actress Whoopi Goldberg, 70, attended the opening night of the revived one‑woman show The Whoopi Monologues at Lincoln Center’s Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater in New York on July 13, 2026. She was accompanied by her 52‑year‑old daughter, actress‑producer Alexandrea Martin, marking a rare mother‑daughter red‑carpet appearance.

Goldberg was noticeably thinner, having lost roughly 80 kilograms after beginning treatment with the GLP‑1 medication Mounjaro in late 2025 to address sciatica and a back injury. She had previously weighed about 136 kilograms, a gain she attributed to steroid therapy received during filming of the historical drama Till. Goldberg said her typically loose clothing often hid body‑shape changes, but the new dress—a cream gown over a black top—made the transformation evident. Martin wore a black blazer with white‑striped sleeves and a white top.

The actress discussed the weight loss publicly, noting that the injections were prescribed for medical reasons, not aesthetic ones, and joked that people often overlook her changes because of her oversized outfits.
