Whoopi Goldberg discusses single life and relationship history

Whoopi Goldberg has expressed her preference for remaining single and independent. During an appearance on the program ‘Baby, This Is Keke Palmer’, the EGOT winner explained that she does not wish to live with a romantic partner, stating, “I am in a relationship with my family. They are enough.”

Goldberg noted that dating can be frustrating due to the necessity of compromise and emotional management. She quipped, “I love a hit and run,” referring to her preference for casual company rather than the responsibilities of a cohabitating relationship. This philosophy aligns with her 2015 self-help book, ‘If Someone Says “You Complete Me,” RUN!’

Goldberg is not currently married. Her relationship history includes three marriages that ended in divorce: Alvin Martin (1973–1979), David Claessen (1986–1988), and Lyle Trachtenberg (1994–1995). Her first marriage to Martin produced one daughter, Alexandrea Martin.
