Whoopi Goldberg reflects on desire to leave ‘The View’

Whoopi Goldberg has revealed that she has frequently considered leaving the ABC daytime talk show ‘The View’ throughout her tenure. As the program enters its 30th season, the moderator reflected on her nearly 20-year history with the series, which began in 2007 at the request of Barbara Walters.

Goldberg noted that the pressure of public scrutiny and the tendency for viewers to react with anger toward her opinions have made the role difficult. She explained that disagreement can arise from any source and that many people often prefer to be angry rather than listen to her reasoning. She has since learned to accept criticism as an inherent part of the job, suggesting that viewers who are unhappy with her views simply do not have to watch.

Goldberg expressed gratitude for the opportunity provided by Walters, noting that she desperately needed work when she first joined the panel. She remains a central figure on the current season's lineup alongside Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro.
