Whoopi Goldberg unveils Jago’s Medusa sculpture on Capri

Oscar‑winning actress Whoopi Goldberg visited the island of Capri, Italy, to inaugurate “Medusa,” a marble sculpture created by contemporary artist Jago. The work, displayed at the Jago Museum inside the historic Villa Lysis—a 1905 villa built by French dandy Jacques d’Adelswärd‑Fersen—features Goldberg’s face with snakes for hair, echoing the mythological Gorgon. Accompanied by Capri mayor Paolo Falco, Jago and fellow actor Patrizio Rispo, Goldberg posted on social media praising the piece, saying her visage was “immortalised forever.” After the unveiling, she dined at La Capannina restaurant, continuing her long‑standing connection with Italy, which includes a past role in the Italian soap opera “Un posto al sole.” The event highlighted Capri’s growing appeal as a summer cultural hotspot.

The sculpture’s debut attracted significant attention online, with video footage quickly surpassing a million views, and underscored the collaboration between a Hollywood icon and the island’s artistic community.
