Wicker film starring Olivia Colman to release globally in October 2026

The romantic fantasy comedy ‘Wicker’, directed by Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson, is preparing for a global theatrical rollout. Starring Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård, the film is an adaptation of Ursula Wills’ short story ‘The Wicker Husband’. The plot follows an ostracized fisherwoman who commissions a local basketmaker, played by Peter Dinklage, to craft her a wicker husband.

Following its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, the film is scheduled for release in the United States on October 23, 2026. It will arrive in the United Kingdom and India on October 30, 2026, with an Australian release set for November 5.

Critics have described the film as a satirical and subversive comedy that explores themes of marriage, patriarchy, and social conventions. Early reviews have highlighted its unique visual style and emotional depth, noting it as a ‘lusty’ and ‘heartfelt’ romantic fable.
