Widow of martyred Colonel criticizes TRT documentary accuracy

The TRT drama-documentary series ‘Asırlık Gece’, which commemorates the 10th anniversary of the July 15 coup attempt, has faced criticism regarding its historical accuracy. Following the release of the 10th episode, Ceylan Ertürk, the widow of martyred Colonel Sait Ertürk, publicly criticized the production for misrepresenting the events and details of her husband's death.

Ertürk stated that the series failed to correctly depict the timeline, locations, and specific circumstances of the conflict. She noted discrepancies in how the characters were positioned and the nature of the injuries sustained, asserting that the production did not reflect the reality of the night.

The series, based on a book by lawyer Hüseyin Aydın, aims to portray the heroes and turning points of the coup attempt, including the roles of military commanders and civilian resistance.
