Widow’s Bay slated for Season 2 filming in 2027 despite fan impatience

Apple TV+ horror‑comedy series Widow’s Bay, set on a fictional New England island with a gruesome past, has earned strong critical praise, including 19 Emmy nominations, a 98% Rotten Tomatoes rating and high audience scores. The show, created by Katie Dippold and featuring Matthew Rhys, Kate O’Flynn and Stephen Root, follows Mayor Tom Loftis’s attempts to revitalize the town’s tourism amid supernatural rumors.

The series has been renewed for a second season, but Dippold told Collider at San Diego Comic‑Con that filming will not begin until 2027 after a lengthy writing period. Fans welcomed the renewal while noting the extended delay, which the creator said is necessary to develop the scripts before production starts.
