Widzew Łódź confronts player exits and squad issues

Coach Aleksandar Vuković said defender Stelios Andreou missed the 2‑2 draw with Motor Lublin because the 24‑year‑old asked not to be fielded to avoid injury while finalising a possible transfer. Andreou, who joined Widzew from Royal Charleroi in 2025 for about €1.3 million, is in talks with another club, though the destination has not been disclosed.

Swiss striker Andi Zeqiri was also left out of the squad, a decision made by the coaching staff after consulting the sport department and owner Roberto Dobrzycki. Zeqiri arrived from KRC Genk for roughly €2 million, signed until 2029, but has scored only three goals in 28 appearances, falling short of the expectations the club had for him as a leading forward.

Vuković also addressed broader team concerns, noting that the squad struggled physically in the previous season and that the club aims to improve preparation and performance under his leadership.
