Germany celebrates World Children's Day with regional festivals

Various cities across Germany held celebrations and community events to observe World Children's Day, emphasizing the rights of children as outlined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

In Hanau, over 700 children attended a musical performance at the amphitheater, an initiative aimed at promoting cultural participation. Düsseldorf hosted large-scale festivities with 120 organizations participating, while Heidelberg saw approximately 1,700 visitors at the Haus der Jugend. In Wiehl, the city expanded its inclusive playground in Wiehlpark just in time for the celebrations, and local festivities featured various clubs and organizations despite rainy weather.

Other regional activities included a kite festival in Petersberg, community art projects in Fulda, and a summer festival for foster families in Worms. These events focused on themes of play, creativity, and social inclusion, providing spaces for families to connect and celebrate the fundamental rights of children.
