Wielkopolskie museums win multiple Izabella awards
Three museums in the Wielkopolska region received the prestigious Izabella award in 2025‑2026. Dr Emilian Prałat, director of the Adam Mickiewicz Museum in Śmiełów, accepted a prize from Marshal Marek Woźniak for the museum’s promotional program marking its 50‑year anniversary.
A gala held on 18 May 2026 at the Śrem Museum saw Marshal Woźniak present Izabella statues and regional Honorary Badges to several institutions, including the National Museum of Agriculture and Food Industry in Szreniawa, the Archaeological Museum in Poznań, and the Regional Museum in Leszno, recognising achievements in exhibition, education, research and promotion.
The Forest Culture Centre in Gołuchów and the Museum of Landowners in Dobrzyca also secured Izabella prizes. Gołuchów was honoured for its “NIETOPERZyMY” educational project on bats and for an exhibition of Józef Wilkon’s wooden sculptures, while Dobrzyca earned a award for its scientific‑publishing work on a temporary exhibit about the Polish gentry family.
These recognitions highlight the vitality of regional museum work in preserving and promoting cultural heritage across Wielkopolska.
