Infrastructure and digital development initiatives in Germany and Austria
Various regional projects are advancing digital and energy infrastructure across Germany and Austria. In Monheim am Rhein, Germany, the local utility provider MEGA is digitizing the low-voltage grid using solutions from Lemonbeat and Envelio to manage increasing loads from renewable energy and decentralized production.
In Austria, Netz NÖ is expanding the power grid in Orth an der Donau, installing kilometers of medium and low-voltage cables to support photovoltaics, heat pumps, and electric vehicles. This is part of a broader modernization program aimed at upgrading hundreds of transformer stations by 2034.
Other regional developments include the launch of hood.fyi, a data-driven neighborhood dashboard for Berlin that aggregates open data regarding rent indexes, construction sites, and local infrastructure. Additionally, political representatives in Baden-Württemberg visited the Schwarz Digits campus to discuss digital sovereignty and independent cloud solutions.
