Wiener Philharmoniker perform Brahms at Salzburg Festival
The Wiener Philharmoniker, conducted by Christian Thielemann, delivered a highly acclaimed performance of Johannes Brahms' works at the Salzburg Festival. The program featured the Violin Concerto in D Major, op. 77, with soloist Augustin Hadelich, and Brahms' Symphony No. 1 in C minor, op. 68.
During the violin concerto, Hadelich experienced a technical difficulty when a string on his Giuseppe Guarneri violin snapped during a cadenza in the first movement. Thielemann supported the soloist, allowing the performance to continue seamlessly. The performance concluded with the first symphony, which received enthusiastic ovations from the audience for its powerful sound and expressive interpretation.
