Wienerberger completes acquisition of Serbian clay block producer Univerzum

Wienerberger has officially completed its acquisition of Univerzum Export-Import d.o.o. and Univerzum Ciglana d.o.o., a leading producer of clay blocks in Serbia. The transaction, originally announced in May, was finalized on October 1, 2026.

The acquisition aims to enhance the supply of construction materials in the Serbian market through the development of high-quality clay block products. This move is intended to support Wienerberger’s business growth within Serbia and across Southeast Europe. The integration will focus on modernizing production facilities in Aranđelovac and Inđija, implementing energy efficiency measures, and applying Wienerberger’s international technological expertise to Univerzum’s local operations.

Univerzum employs approximately 200 people and is expected to generate roughly 20 million euros in revenue in 2026. Mladen Samardžija, Commercial Director for the Central Balkans region at Wienerberger, stated that the integration represents a new chapter of joint development rather than just a change in ownership.
