Highfield Festival holds final edition at Störmthaler See
The Highfield Festival, one of East Germany’s largest open-air music events, held its final edition at Störmthaler See under the theme ‘One Last Dance’. Approximately 28,000 attendees gathered to celebrate the conclusion of a history that began in 1998.
Organizers FKP Scorpio and Semmel Concerts cited sharply rising production costs as the primary reason for ending the festival. The decision follows years of economic challenges, including increased costs for artists, personnel, and logistics, as well as shifting consumer demand due to the rising cost of living.
The final lineup featured a diverse range of musical acts, including SDP, Kraftklub, Beatsteaks, BHZ, 01099, and Marteria. Other performing artists included Dropkick Murphys, Feine Sahne Fischfilet, and Giant Rooks. The event also introduced new elements such as an ‘Electric Beach’ stage for EDM programming.
