Wiesbaden police investigate arson series and circus burglary

Wiesbaden police are investigating a series of criminal incidents occurring over a weekend in August 2026, including multiple arsons and a circus burglary.

In the early hours of Sunday, unknown perpetrators set fire to nine trash bins in the city center. Additionally, a car was set ablaze in an open garage on Hans-Böckler-Straße, causing the fire to spread to other vehicles and damaging the garage structure. The estimated property damage for the vehicle fire is in the low six-figure range.

Local waste management services (ELW) noted that the fires specifically targeted recycling bins, suggesting intentionality rather than negligence. This marks the second wave of such incidents this year, with over 250 bins already destroyed, causing significant replacement costs.

In a separate incident, thieves broke into a circus tent in the Biebrich district, stealing a sound system valued at over 20,000 euros. Police are also seeking witnesses regarding a physical assault that took place in the Rheingauviertel on Saturday evening.
