Wiesbaden removes unauthorized road markings
The city of Wiesbaden has identified approximately 170 unauthorized road markings on public streets and sidewalks, including self-painted parking spaces, private restricted areas, and a pedestrian crossing located in the middle of a roundabout.
Traffic Department Head Marc Dahlen stated that while citizens may be creative in attempting to secure parking near their homes, the public transport space is not a place for self-made traffic rules. Officials noted that these markings can confuse drivers, compromise road safety, and deprive others of legally usable parking. The city plans to remove these markings over the next six months, noting that the process can be difficult depending on the type of paint used and the condition of the road surface.
