WiFi 7 and 4K-QAM technology face real-world speed limitations

The transition to the WiFi 7 standard introduces 4K-QAM technology, which increases data density by allowing 12 bits per symbol compared to the 10 bits used in WiFi 6. While this represents a theoretical 20% increase in data transmission efficiency, achieving advertised speeds is difficult in real-world settings.

Several factors prevent users from reaching maximum theoretical speeds, including physical obstructions like walls, distance from the router, signal interference from neighboring networks, and the limitations of existing fiber optic service plans. Even with the advanced 802.11be standard, which can theoretically reach up to 46 Gbps, domestic users often find that wired Ethernet connections remain more stable and faster for consistent high-speed performance due to the lack of wireless interference and signal degradation.
