WIG20 index tests 4,000-point level amid market consolidation

The WIG20 index on the Warsaw Stock Exchange is currently consolidating around the psychological 4,000-point barrier. Following a recent peak of approximately 4,084 points, the index has experienced a shallow correction of about 4%. Technical analysis suggests that a breakout above 4,084 points could signal further bullish momentum toward 4,200 or 4,400 points, while a drop below 4,000 points might lead to a decline toward 3,700 points.

Market sentiment is supported by strong economic growth and foreign investor interest. Notably, Dino shares rose nearly 7% following positive results, reflecting consumer strength. Additionally, European economic data, including rising manufacturing PMI in Germany, provides a supportive backdrop for Polish assets.

On a structural level, S&P Dow Jones Indices has concluded consultations regarding the reclassification of Poland from an emerging to a developed market. While a final decision is pending, the proposed implementation date is September 2027, and the index provider indicates that Poland currently meets or exceeds the qualitative and quantitative criteria for developed market status.
