Wigan Athletic to host Blackpool in EFL Trophy clash

Wigan Athletic is set to host Blackpool at the Brick Community Stadium for an EFL Trophy fixture. Both teams enter the match following recent struggles in League One.

Wigan Athletic currently sits at the bottom of the League One standings after a 1-0 defeat to Wycombe Wanderers. The club is also mourning the recent death of goalkeeping coach Kevin Miller. Despite their league form, Wigan secured a 3-2 victory against Aston Villa U21 earlier in their EFL Trophy campaign.

Blackpool, managed by Ian Evatt, has yet to play in this competition. While the Seasiders began the season strongly, they are currently on a four-game winless run in league play, following recent matches against Barnsley, Reading, and Plymouth Argyle.
