WightAID launches £1 million fundraising drive for 10th anniversary

WightAID has launched a new fundraising campaign to reach a £1 million milestone by September 2027, marking the tenth anniversary of the charity. Since its establishment in 2016 by founder Geoff Underwood, the organization has raised more than £920,000, benefiting over 300 community groups and organizations on the Isle of Wight.

The anniversary was celebrated with an event at Northwood House, which included the introduction of new trustee Dale Howarth. The charity recently completed a grant round totaling more than £18,845, distributed among six local organizations.

Key recipients included the Getaway Foundation, which received £6,135 for family respite breaks, and Two Generation CIC, which was awarded £4,500 for its Homeshare scheme. Other grants were provided to Independent Arts for its Gallery Project, the Disabled Sailors Association for a sailing day, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award for its 70th anniversary, and the Ventnor Carnival Association for its Heritage Day.
