Wijkhelden volunteers honored at Wijkheldendag event

Hundreds of volunteers, known as ‘Wijkhelden’, gathered at the Maisdoolhof on September 13 for the 2026 Wijkheldendag to celebrate their efforts in cleaning up litter within the Dar region.

During the official opening, Dar General Director Wim Kuster and Mayor Joerie Minses commended the thousands of active volunteers who work throughout the year to maintain clean neighborhoods. The event highlighted regional cooperation between municipalities, residents, and organizations.

As part of the ceremony, the mayor received a ‘golden tweezer’ from the youth circus Waaghals, which was then handed over to Alderman Pascal Cobussen of the municipality of Beuningen, marking Beuningen as the host for next year’s event.
