WIKA supports infrastructure recovery in North Sumatra

PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) is collaborating with the Ministry of Public Works to accelerate the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) in North Sumatra. This project follows floods and landslides in late November 2025 that damaged essential water infrastructure.

The initiative targets the restoration or improvement of drinking water access for 995 households across the Langkat, North Tapanuli, and South Tapanuli regencies. WIKA’s scope of work includes constructing boreholes, approximately 41 kilometers of transmission and distribution pipelines, reservoirs, and household connections. Additionally, the company is building two water treatment plants with a combined capacity of 100 liters per second.

Work commenced in January 2026 with a one-year target for completion. As of mid-October 2026, several facilities have entered the pre-commissioning and flow testing stages to ensure operational readiness. The project utilizes 127 personnel and seven units of heavy equipment, incorporating local labor and materials to support the recovery of the affected regions.
